Digital Archives

Activities involving digitization, metadata creation, and management of cultural heritages for online accessibility are conducted based on agreements with departments and public or private entities. These activities are under the responsibility and scientific care of researchers, involving and training a significant number of students and young people. They are coordinated by an interdisciplinary working group comprising experts in digital libraries, metadata, digital preservation, rights management, and communication. The area includes the Digitization and Metadata Laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for digital acquisition, and the Audiovisual Production and Post-production Laboratory, which handles filming, digital and analog audio-video acquisition, and editing equipment for indoor and outdoor settings. Lastly, the area manages access to the Online Media Library, open to all Sapienza students and staff, housing a large collection of videos from the Department of Art History and Performance Media Library, accessible outside the Sapienza domain exclusively for educational purposes.
